The Black Association of Behavior Analysts (BABA) proudly announces the unveiling of our new logo—a powerful symbol that reflects our mission, our people, and the deep roots of our practice.
At the center of the emblem is the Baobab Tree, often referred to as the Tree of Life. With a lifespan of thousands of years and over 300 documented uses for both people and animals, the Baobab is a sacred symbol of legacy, resilience, and transformation. Its massive trunk stores water in times of drought. Its branches offer nourishment, healing, and refuge. For generations, communities have gathered beneath it to share stories, make collective decisions, and hold space for one another. That same spirit lives on in our work.
The tree’s bold, black roots and trunk represent Black intellectual labor and ancestral wisdom: grounded, unshakable, and enduring. Its red and green leaves signal growth, vitality, and are rooted in the Pan-African tradition.
On both sides of the tree, bar graphs rise from the trunk and taper outward, intentionally mirrored. These visual elements reflect our commitment to data and science, while symbolizing the idea that the closer we are to community, the greater our capacity for growth, both individually and collectively.
The numbers “19” and “25” are placed prominently on either side of the tree, marking our founding in 2019 and the year we stepped into our renewed name and mission in 2025. These dates anchor the logo in our timeline and transformation, honoring our origin while looking toward our evolution and future.
This new visual identity is a declaration of who we are, what we honor, and where we are headed. It speaks to the generations who paved the way and to the futures we are actively shaping.
