The Black Association of Behavior Analysts (BABA) proudly announces the launch of The Journal of Black Behavior Analysis (JOBBA), a peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing Black scholarship, leadership, and intellectual sovereignty within the field of behavior analysis.
JOBBA was created to address long-standing gaps in academic publishing by centering Black perspectives, methodologies, and areas of inquiry that have historically been marginalized or excluded from mainstream journals. The journal will publish original research, theoretical papers, practice-based scholarship, commentary, and interdisciplinary work that reflects the breadth, rigor, and innovation of Black behavior analysts and allied scholars.
“JOBBA represents a commitment to authorship, record-keeping, and intellectual continuity,” said BABA President, Denisha Gingles. “This journal is not an add-on to the field, it is a necessary expansion of what has always been recognized as legitimate knowledge to our communities, now we are simply bringing that knowledge to one specific, scientific space.”
The launch of JOBBA aligns with BABA’s broader mission to build sustainable infrastructure for Black professionals across research, practice, education, and leadership. As part of this launch, BABA is opening a Call for Editor in Chief and Editorial Board Members. These roles will shape the journal’s vision, editorial standards, and long-term impact.
JOBBA will operate with an intentional focus on ethical scholarship, community relevance, and academic rigor, while resisting extractive and exclusionary publishing norms. Additional details regarding submission guidelines and publication timelines can be found on https://thejobba.org. Information related to journal access for the broader community will be announced in the coming months.
Individuals interested in serving as Editor or on the Editorial Board are encouraged to apply at thejobba.org .
